If I was Rumsfeld, here's what I'd say when the questions and the inevitable condemnation and demands for apology, penance and groveling happen:
"No, that wasn't a racist statement, calling Obama an ape (because he's black). That would have been insulting to the trained ape. Idiot."
or
"No, I said that Obama was LESS COMPETENT than a trained ape. Idiot."
If Rumsfeld ends up apologizing for this, I'm done with him.
