The Tax Bill

Now that the tax bill has passed both houses and has been signed by President Trump, I figured that I’d make a few comments…

First: a couple notes.
-       Do not allow the media, or anyone else, to tell you that tax cuts cost the government ANYTHING. They don’t. Tax cuts allow Americans to keep a higher percentage of the money THEY work hard to earn.
-       Tax cuts don’t necessarily mean that employees (private side) get a pay raise. Although this is often cited as an example of how “Trickle down” economics DOESN’T work, it is far from the truth, as it doesn’t consider the whole picture. Two pieces of that whole picture:
o   If a person making $50k/year, for example, is taxed at, say, 25% (net), their effective operating capital is $37,500/year. If that person’s tax rate (net) is cut to, say, 20%, their new effective operating capital becomes $40,000, an INCREASE of $2,500/year (an effective pay raise to around $53.5k/year, taxed at the old…25%...rate).
o   If the price of goods and services REDUCES (because of tax cuts to businesses), the buying power of the dollar INCREASES which, in effect, is also a pay raise.
-       The notion of “tax cuts for the rich” is another lie, intended to mask the truth of how tax cuts improve the economy. The simple truth is that when taxes on businesses increases, they pass those increases directly to consumers. So, increasing taxes of “the rich” and businesses actually ends up increasing the taxes of consumers and make their (consumers’) dollars less powerful.
-       The notion that “tax cuts to the rich” DOESN’T help the poor and middle class……is a lie. Unless those “rich” folks are stuffing mattresses with money, their money is being invested (which finances companies, who invest in equipment and employees). And, with decreases in goods and services, the buying power of the dollar increases, irrespective of income level.

The vote
          It’s VERY important to note that no Democrats…..not a single one…..voted for to approve this tax package. It is important for the very same reason that it continues to be important that ZERO Republicans voted to approve Obamacare; it draws a CLEAR line in the sand, between how Democrats and Republicans view the Federal Government’s role in our lives. Democrats want to consolidate power at the Federal level, Republicans want power consolidated in the citizenry (in private hands, in keeping with the Constitution).
          In addition to the ZERO Democrats, TWELVE Republicans voted NOT to pass the tax package (these gutless pols should be remembered when next they are in campaign mode…):

-       Dana Rohrbacher (CA-48)
-       Darrell Issa (CA-49)
-       Walter Jones (NC-3)
-       Frank LoBiondo (NJ-2)
-       Christopher Smith NJ-4)
-       Leonard Lance (NJ-7)
-       Rodney Freylinghuysen (NJ-11)
-       Lee Zeldin (NY-1)
-       Peter King (NY-2)
-       Dan Donovan (NY-11)
-       John Faso (NY-19)
-       Elise Stefanik (NY-21)

So…….the abject failure of Obamacare is 100% OWNED by Democrats. How the tax bill affects the economy will be 100% owned by those Republicans who voted to approve it.

It CAN’T be clearer than that!

Deficit
-       The first thing that the media and Democrats will point to, as this tax bill goes to work, will be the inevitable increase in the deficit. And, yes, it WILL increase. But, a couple things must be considered:
o   If Congress does nothing about the automatic increases to entitlement spending, and does nothing to spending, in general, the debt will continue to increase in the long term.
o   After an initial increase in deficit, there will follow a decrease (assuming no changes in spending). Why? Because with more money in private hands, revenues will INCREASE (more manufacturing, more employment).
We have some VERY tough fights coming up, because we…..YOU AND ME…..must DEMAND that spending MUST be cut, and cut SEVERELY. And, while that is being done, other tax proposals must be put in place
o   A dollar-for-dollar direct tax reduction on charitable organizations that directly replace entitlements.
o   A near dollar-for-dollar direct tax reduction on ALL charitable giving.
o   A dollar-for-dollar direct tax reduction on foundations established that address health insurance, schooling, etc.
The objective here is to VASTLY increase the effectiveness of money spent on entitlements; specifically, by moving those entitlements from public hands to private hands.

Employment
-       Anyone who pays attention to ONLY U-3 Unemployment Rate misses the bigger picture. That bigger picture MUST include Labor Force Participation Rate. What this tax package will do, in the long term, will be to REDUCE the U-3 Unemployment number while INCREASING the Labor Force Participation Rate (under the last administration, while the media and Democrats touted the overall increase in employment, they failed to take into account the Labor Force Participation Rate which, taken into account, proved to be a net LOSS in employment over eight years).

Buying power (Addressed above).
          Bottom line? When you DECREASE prices of retail goods and services, you INCREASE the buying power of the dollar. So the SAME wage becomes an INCREASE in effective wage.

This tax bill reveals the fundamental difference between Liberal and Conservative philosophies.

Liberals believe that Government should be in control of power, money and the citizenry.  


Conservatives believe that THE PEOPLE should be in control of power and money (as is contemplated in the Founding Documents)….and the government.

WHY DON’T LIBERALS SEEM TO CARE ABOUT DEFICITS AND DEBT?

The only time Liberals seem to care about the REAL costs of a Government program is then that program shows a profit…..which is never.

And the only time Liberals care about debts and deficits is when a Republican sits in the Oval Office. (They holler, but do NOTHING about it)

Does this make ANY sense at all? 

Shouldn’t ALL elected officials pay VERY close attention to America’s balance sheet? Shouldn’t our elected officials consider it “good business” to maintain a budget that, at the very least, is revenue neutral?

Yet, no one in Washington (except, for now, President Trump) seems to care HOW MUCH government spends….using dollars it DOESN’T HAVE.

Well, this used to baffle me, too.

That is, until I started looking at the strategy of it all.

And, yes…..these upside-down programs, debts and deficits are tactics, aimed at accomplishing a specific mission.

Anyone remember how President Reagan brought the Soviet Union down?

Reagan employed two primary weapons against the Soviets: money and democratic opposition groups. While he funded groups inside the USSR, he also forced the Soviets to invest overwhelming amounts of dollars on defense (primarily against the SDI program).

Reagan worked to rot the Soviet Union from its structure, while breaking its financial back.

And it worked.

See that parallel?

That is EXACTLY what has been happening in America, by Liberals on BOTH sides of the aisle.

They are attempting to spend America into oblivion. And, while they do that, they fund separatist groups (think TARP, Planned Parenthood, public unions, etc), who rot America’s foundation.

But, now there is a line being drawn in the sand.

The line? President Trump.

Who drew it?

INDEPENDENCE DAY 2017

THE FOURTH OF JULY, 2017

If you haven’t figured out, by now, that we are in a state of civil war, that our Constitution is under attack, that our freedom and liberty are, at this very moment, in danger of being lost forever, then, my friends, you’d BETTER wake up!

Socialism, for the last 80-or-so years, has quietly crept into our government; undermining our Constitution and the Bill of Rights and insinuating itself into the fabric of every aspect of our society. Adherents move slowly, cautiously, under the guise of “compassion for the needy, the poor and the minority”, and build the framework of a Socialist state; rather, a cage.

The Declaration of Independence, adopted on July 4th, 1776, set in motion the circumstances for what was to become the greatest and freest society in history. We broke with the Crown, becoming a free people who previously were subjects.

That freedom, that liberty, spelled out and memorialized in The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and Bill of Rights, required, from time to time, the sacrifice of patriots, willing to kill and lay down their lives in defense of that shared idea, that shared dream. Wars of words as well as of rounds have kept that shared idea, that dream, alive.

Today, we again are at war. Today, we stand at a crossroad and must decide whether that shared idea is worth defending. Our freedom, our liberty, our future, hang in the balance.

And now, each and every moment, we must decide.

Is freedom worth the fight? Is liberty worth the words? Are our Founding Documents worth preserving, defending even to the death? Do we squander and render meaningless the sacrifice of those who paid the price for us?

Our enemy is Socialism, as well as those who espouse that misguided ideology. Those advocates are relentless in their pursuit. They will never accept defeat. They will never stop. They will never rest until our Founding Documents are relegated to a mere footnote in history.

We have NO choice, if those Founding Documents are to remain relevant. The price for losing or refusing to engage is captivity.

Let this, and every, Fourth of July (indeed, EVERY DAY, with EVERY BREATH) renew our spirit of patriotism. And let us prepare to defend our freedom and liberty with our very lives.

PERSPECTIVE #4

What was the last war won on defense alone?
How about a football game?  Baseball? Basketball? Soccer?

If the answer is “none” (and it IS, BTW), then I have a question:

What makes you think that the fight to preserve our Constitution, the fight to preserve our freedom, our liberty, our NATION, can be won by defense, alone?

Don’t get me wrong: defense is EXTREMELY important. A boxer in the ring can be as strong and fast as any of the greatest, but if he can’t defend himself, he will lose. Period.

Offense AND defense are equals in importance. One cannot win without relative measures of both.

So, I’ll ask:

If we Conservatives spend all our time on the defense, how can we reasonably expect to win this war of ideologies?

To be blunt: we can’t.

I applaud the efforts of so many Americans, who are speaking up, countering lies, getting the truth out. We are engaged, right now, in the fight to preserve our Constitution, our Bill of Rights and our Declaration of Independence; those documents that serve as the foundation for the greatest country in history. Our freedoms, our liberty, our prosperity are rooted in the principles contained within those documents and defended by not only our military forces, but all of us as well.

Defense is not enough.

Be on the attack. ALWAYS advance. Put THEM on the defense.

Perspective #3

Time to make a few things clear; very, VERY clear.

But first, can we stipulate that Statism is antithetical to our Constitution? (If you do NOT agree, I’d like to know why.)

Democrats, the media, the GOP….

Collectively: The Establishment. This group, which comprises most of Congress, is a drift of pigs. But this drift of pigs doesn’t wait for the farmer (you) to fill their trough. Rather, they freely raid the farmer’s (your) house and steal the food, taking however much they wish.

…and their appetites are ever-growing. They are insatiable gluttons. They are pigs.

And, now, the farmer (you) is threatening to not only lock the house, but also put them on a VERY strict diet.

WHERE WE WERE, PRE-NOVEMBER 8TH, 2016

Since the administration of FDR (one of the first high-level Socialists with the ability to legislate the Statist agenda), America has slouched toward a Marxist state (post-Capitalist, centralized, overreaching government). Although there have been minor….MINOR…..moves toward restoring a Constitutional government (Reagan, Bush II), the push toward Statism has been fundamentally unabated. The supposed “opposition” Party, the Republicans, have behaved exactly as the Whig Party, pre-Lincoln: lots of powerful words, no action.

Donald Trump, candidate, represented a real, genuine, opportunity to restore America to its Constitutional mandate and a hope….a possibility…..to halt what was considered inevitable: the ascension of Hillary Clinton. The moment he began to trend in the polls, The Establishment went into high gear to protect their chosen one and, in doing so, attempt to close the book on this Representative Republic.

Where Trump-as-President was concerned, he was certainly NOT an ideal candidate. Since every Presidential candidate makes lots of promises, and based on Trump’s past, which has been a mixed bag of leaning every which way on any and every issue, it could be easily concluded that there’d be NO intention of doing anything substantive, should he win the election. He just wanted to add “POTUS” to his CV, right?

Whomever might be elected, one thing was for sure: the country was a mess.

At the end of the Obama administration, America was $20 TRILLION in debt and
chalked up a $600 BILLION deficit. Labor force participation rate was 62%. Food stamp recipients at record high, welfare recipients at record high. The ACA (Obamacare) was a growing nightmare of taxation and regulation. America’s foreign policy (whatever there WAS of one) was a joke. Despots the world over were delighted to be able to deal with a gutless, spineless, gullible milquetoast, who would send them complete incompetents like Hillary Clinton and John Kerry.

NOVEMBER 8TH, 2016

Then, Donald Trump became President Trump.

The fact that he WAS elected (yes, Democrats, he DID win the election), set him up for immediate hostility from Democrats AND the GOP AND the media.

But then, he did the unthinkable. He set out….immediately…to go about fulfilling his campaign promises. Of course, we’ll see whether the legislative parts of his aggressive agenda survive legislative and judicial scrutiny, but, without question, his moves, thus far, have been to restore Constitutional primacy. His proposals have begun to restore power to the states and to individuals (in homage to the Tenth Amendment). His nomination, then confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court restored balance to the Supreme Court. He’s overturned nearly all of Obama’s last-moment regulations. Rendered Dodd Frank meaningless. He’s, even now, appointing Conservative justices to the federal bench. In short, he’s begun to dismantle nearly 80 years of Socialism in our government.

WHERE WE ARE

Let’s be VERY clear about something: if Trump’s agenda gets passed, he, and America, will succeed; and succeed BIG. If Trump is successful, The Establishment will LOSE. And they will lose BIG. So, the mission for Democrats, the media and the GOP is to make sure that Trump’s agenda fails. They don’t care HOW negatively it affects you, they don’t care whether The Constitution is rendered useless (in fact, that is EXACTLY what they want), they don’t care what happens to you. The Establishment, united in their desire to continue the drive toward Statism, operate on two fundamental concepts.

-       First: “The ends justify the means”. The ‘ends’ is a Socialist state. The ‘means’ is any lie, any confabulation, any violent act. In the end, the ‘means’ includes attempting to take President Trump all the way out.
-       Second: As attributed to Francois de Charette:  “on ne saurait faire d’omelette sans casser des oeufs”; where a Socialist state is the omelette and YOU are the ‘oeufs’.

Right now, America has the best chance, in the last 70+ years, to restore The Constitution to Supreme Law of the land. Alone, Trump cannot do it. Alone, he WILL fail. Depending on the GOP, he will fail; they are NOT on his, or The Constitution’s, side.

The ONLY way to restore The Constitution is through YOUR action; YOUR activism, YOUR self-education, YOUR determination, YOUR persistence, YOUR ability and willingness to expose the lies, YOUR willingness to do whatever it takes….including physical defense…to defend freedom.

As Rahm Emanuel so eloquently borrowed, “You never let a serious crisis go to waste.” So, The Establishment is creating a serious crisis, built of voter ignorance and complacency, lies, and conveniently forgotten history.

With every success, The Establishment will become increasingly unhinged and openly hostile. Count on more lies. Count on more made-up stories. Count on increasing violence. Count on insurrection.

So, you have a choice to make. Right now and every day. EVERY day. EVERY moment.

If you choose to do nothing, America will lose. If you choose to engage, and continue to engage, America WILL win.

This Representative Republic is too precious, too necessary, to allow to relegated to the ash heap of history. It IS worth fighting for.

The “Silent Majority”? No more.

Perspective

What did you expect?  I’d really like to know….

Did you expect that a candidate, who spent most of his campaign, tearing into the Establishment, would somehow….suddenly…be embraced by them?

Did you expect that Trump, who vowed to begin the process of undoing 70+ years of Socialism, would be allowed to enact that agenda without hostile, violent opposition, from BOTH sides of the Establishment?

Did you think that Democrats would suddenly decide to allow Trump to undo their Socialist dream without a word?

With their clear history of hoaxing, lying and just making things up, did you think that Democrats would suddenly play fair?

This is politics, folks. And this IS The Establishment.

One side working against the other in order to halt an agenda. Every trick, every Congressional rule, every maneuver, every ploy……everything is used by both sides in order to either forward or halt that agenda.

And make NO mistake: Trump’s agenda is potentially transformative. If successful, it would begin….BEGIN….the process of undoing 70+ years of creeping Socialism and restoring Constitutional mandates.

And make NO mistake: his first 100+ days have begun to do exactly that. Trump, along with ANYONE who supports him, represent a genuine threat to Socialism, to Collectivism, to Marxism, to Communism…..to Statism.

So it should come as no surprise that the reaction from Democrats AND Establishment Republicans would be vigorous and openly hostile. And it should come as no surprise that it will soon become violent. It’s the Marxist way.

Now, that said, it should also come as no surprise that Democrats are employing the same tactics as were used by Hitler and Stalin to whip their party faithful into blind frenzy. Screaming, threats and violence is, and will continue to be, the SOP. Go ahead…… “Google” old speeches from Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Mao, Pol, Fidel…….watch them whip the masses into frenzy.

BUT, keep this in mind: darkness cannot hide in the light.

EVERYTHING positive that has happened (and there’s been plenty) in the last several months is because you…..YOU…..made it happen. Your voice, your letters, your confrontations, your energy, your willingness to stand up and fight……YOU are the reason America still has a chance. YOU are the reason that the sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom will not be rendered meaningless.

YOU are the reason our Constitution remains the law of the land.

And YOU MUST continue to fight. In fact, ramp it up. Fight fire with fire.

When they shout: you shout louder.
When they lie: you reveal the truth.
When they falsely accuse: you defend with vigor
When they intimidate: you stand firm
When they resort to violence: you resort to self-defense and defense of others
And when they resort to war: you face them, no quarter and without mercy.

What is at stake is our Constitution; and with it, our freedom.

AMERICA FIRST BUDGET

AMERICA FIRST BUDGET
“Provide” or “Promote”?

If you have NOT read the “America First” budget proposal, but insist on taking a position on it because of something you read in an op/ed or other media piece, you add nothing worthwhile to the conversation.

Step one: Read the Constitution (especially, in this case, the Preamble).


Step three: Research budget items.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

Keep in mind that the purpose of the Constitution is to define the specific role of our government; to define its three branches and specify the roles of each. In the Preamble, two very important distinctions are made clear, with respect to those roles: to “…provide for the common defense…” and to “…promote the general welfare…”.

“Provide” and “promote”. THESE are the two key words (and concepts), both in the Constitution as well as the “America First” budget proposal.

In the “America First” budget proposal, toward the bottom, are various Summary Tables. Table 3 is a good place to start to understand the budget proposal. The “America First” budget seeks to bolster the “provide”, keeping it revenue-neutral by restoring the “promote”; fund the military while getting the government fiscally out of non-Constitutional issues.

Perhaps the second area worth reading is the “Major Agency Budget Highlights” (Page 5). This provides somewhat further details on areas of focus for the budget (and its balancing). One paragraph has the media and Democrats, along with “Establishment” Republicans in a fury:

The Budget also proposes to eliminate funding for other independent agencies, including: the African Development Foundation; the Appalachian Regional Commission; the Chemical Safety Board; the Corporation for National and Community Service; the Corporation for Public Broadcasting; the Delta Regional Authority; the Denali Commission; the Institute of Museum and Library Services; the Inter-American Foundation; the U.S. Trade and Development Agency; the Legal Services Corporation; the National Endowment for the Arts; the National Endowment for the Humanities; the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation; the Northern Border Regional Commission; the Overseas Private Investment Corporation; the United States Institute of Peace; the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness; and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.”

But, as I said, if you are not looking into these budget items, you add nothing to the conversation.

Two questions worth researching:
1.     How much does the government grant to these programs now?
2.     Are there any private institutions that do the same thing are these programs?

By way of example, let’s look at Meals on Wheels (which falls under the Community Development Block Grant program), a particular touchstone for the media’s, Democrats’ and Establishment Republicans’ hostility.

The CDBG’s budget is $3 billion. According to the Meals on Wheels 2015 independently-audited financial statement (http://www.mealsonwheelsamerica.org/docs/default-source/financials/meals-on-wheels-america-audited-financial-statements-2015.pdf?sfvrsn=2), on page 4 (Statement of Activities), Government Grants totaled $248,347.00. Total revenues (mostly private and corporate donations) were $7,564,588.00. So, of its total budget, the Government kicked in 3.2%.

THIS is what has the media, Democrats and Establishment Republicans up in arms.

And, let’s be VERY clear: If I can do this simple research, THEY can…..and DID….it, too. They KNOW these numbers. BUT, they are BETTING that Americans will NOT to do their own research. And, these days…..it’s not a bad bet.

And one more thing (about the CDBG, since it’s the current topic, but is RAMPANT in all these programs): These programs are a cesspool of fraud and waste. An example: in Riverside, CA, an audit in 2016 for poor documentation of their expenses. They were granted $761,744 from the CDBG, and the audit revealed that most of the grant money was used to renovate the playground at ONE school. NO money went to local Meals on Wheels program. ZERO.


What President Trump is seeking to achieve in the “America First” budget is simply this: the beginning of the process to restore the government to its Constitutional principles and limits. He seeks to bolster the “provide” and end the providing of the “promote”.

TOTALITARIANISM

HELPFUL HINTS FROM TIM

If you want a few handy indicators that a party in power is attempting to establish a totalitarian regime, look to one that:

-          Is trying to disarm you.
o   If you take a close look, throughout modern history, the rise of Totalitarian regimes have risen in the absence of a means by which a citizenry is able to defend itself from those intent on enslaving them. Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Pol, Fidel, Chavez, etc…..all were able to rise to total control because of a citizenry disarmed. No truer words were ever spoken than “those who pound their swords into plowshares will plow for those who do not.” Even those who advocated peace, like Mahatma Gandhi, recognized that an armed citizenry is the only way to preserve liberty. America’s founders, in arguing for the inclusion of the Second Amendment, worried that, without a citizenry able to physically defend itself, our newly forming country would risk losing the freedom and liberty to a government turned tyrannical. So, when considering those who might wish to enslave a nation, pay careful attention to those who strive to disarm the citizenry.

-          Is actively INCREASING the movement of money from the citizens to the government
o   A cursory look at the US tax code reveals the remarkable number of taxes paid, directly and indirectly, by citizens. If one reviews the “Citizens against Government Waste” web site (www.CAGW.org), one can find ratings of those we elect as to their “tax friendliness”; the higher the grade, the fewer tax proposals for which they vote.
Pay careful attention to those who vote to INCREASE taxes.

-          Increasing government regulatory encroachment
o   Currently, at the federal level alone, there are over 150,000 regulations placed on business. ONE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND. Be mindful of those who seek to place EVEN MORE regulations on business.

A totalitarian regime cannot arise without two factors, in equal parts: government action and citizenry INaction (ignorance, complacency, silence, etc).

So, when considering whether, right now, we are seeing the rise of a totalitarian regime, consider that NONE of these indicators are present. The LAST eight years, however, were an ENTIRELY different story. In fact, with this last election, the actions of the citizenry changed the direction of our country AWAY from the circumstances which might have led to the rise of a totalitarian regime.

But…..Hillary lost. So, for a while, we at least have the ability to restore Constitutional principles; but it will be up to US, THE CITIZENRY.

WE MUST BE VOCAL.

WE MUST BE VIGILENT.
WE MUST BE SELF-EDUCATED.

We…..must be Americans, no different than those who have fought and died throughout the years in order to preserve our union.
